『サンダーフォースIV』は、テクノソフトが1992年にセガメガドライブ向けにリリースしたシューティングゲームで、北米では『Lightening Force: Quest for the Darkstar』のタイトルで発売された。シリーズ第4作目にあたる本作は、Thunder Forceシリーズの中核を担う一本である。
